RANGE is a different kind of news outlet: we have the clear objective to empower everyday people to make change happen in our community. We do that with every article we investigate, each agenda we distill for CIVICS and each person we interview for our podcast.
But there’s something missing: a space to come together. Beyond giving community members access to important information, our community needs a place to connect and have conversations — more than what traditional social media platforms can offer.
We know that knowledge and information empowers people. We know that common spaces and interests help us build community. And we know that coming together brings change.
We want to spark that change by giving you a place to connect — to us and to each other. So join RANGE’s new Discord community! This is a place where you can:
- be part of the news conversation
- connect with others who care about our community
- ask questions directly to reporters and others in the Discord
- find ways to volunteer and help in Spokane
- share news tips for things you think should be covered
OK, but what’s Discord?
Discord is kind of like a love child of Slack, Reddit and AOL messenger. You can follow topic-specific channels, start and contribute to conversations and even just lurk. It’s a unique tool to build community online and even offline around a shared topic and we’re pretty excited to use it to provide a platform for discussion and community-building.
