Hey y’all,
It’s the season where we get to reflect on what’s happened this year, what we’ve accomplished and where we’re going next.
This year has been a huge metamorphosis for us: we grew from a team of one to a full-time team of three, we published 94 articles and podcasts (so far!) and we even started meeting you all in real life through Office Hours and our first ever live podcast recording event.
We also more than doubled our paying membership, and believe us when we tell you we couldn’t have done any of this without the support of our community and the financial support of our [checks notes] 288 members and counting.
We’re setting our 2023 New Year’s resolutions (bean counters might call it a “budget,” but we call it a fun…get?) and the shortlist so far is:
- Make our team of three sustainable through community support
- Add another team member so we can bring you MORE original reporting
- Launch a new, game-changing program to expand on our civics work and empower our community further (more on that later)
And we can’t do it without you. We’re an independent, worker-owned news outlet and we need to pay the bills while being able to grow to do more of this work.
So, we’re kicking off our year-end membership campaign today. Our goal is to get 100 or more members in the next few weeks. Our community smashed our fall drive goal, so we’re shooting for the stars! Coming up, you’ll see several messages from our team about the importance of supporting local journalism.
Will you support us today by becoming a member? We have a few tiers of support, and they start at $10/month.
If you have any questions, please send them our way at [email protected].
In solidarity,
Luke, Val, Carl and the RANGE team
P.S. By becoming a member, you join an extremely cool group of people supporting community journalism, like Rebecca:
“I support Range not only because the local reporting is so in-depth and well researched, Range offers perspectives and insight I don’t generally see in other local reporting. I suppose that’s the strength of a smaller publication that chooses to focus on a few issues and cover them so thoroughly. I also have known some of the staff of Range for a long time as part of this community and trust the reporting they offer. Range had really filled a void I didn’t know was here until Range emerged!” – Rebecca C.
