If you live in the city of Spokane’s District 3, you’re special: you’re in the sole city district that has more than two city council candidates this year, meaning you have a primary election to vote in!
Three candidates — incumbent Zack Zappone and challengers Christopher Savage and Cody Arguelles — are running to represent you on council for the next four years. Ballots for the primaries were sent out last week, and are due August 5, so you have a choice to make before then: which two of these three men will advance to the primaries to continue fighting for your vote?
To help you make your decision, we asked all three candidates to give us brief, clear answers (think something that could fit in a tweet) to 20 questions about some of the key issues emerging for voters this year.
Should Spokane fund a new jail? How should the city council address housing affordability? Which transportation projects should we prioritize for funding?
All that and more in this handy chart, and if this isn’t enough to help you make your choice before election day, don’t worry: we have more detailed coverage on this race coming next week.
If you want to dive in even deeper than that, our podcast episode for this week is a full recording of a candidate forum that both Arguelles — via video submission — and Savage participated in. You can listen to that here or wherever you get your podcasts.
More about these candidates’ positions can also be found on their websites:
